Last spring a buddy and I headed up to the Miracle Mile stretch on the North Platte in pursuit of big rainbows. Our plan....find a dry gravel bar upstream we could launch a drift boat on, then nymph hard till the later half of the stretch in which the big sticks would be pulled out. This was my first time with cork in both hands, and I was excited after reading a thrilling post by Stainless and his new toy.
Needless to say, we got into em at the end of the float. If it wasn't for my wife whom we left back up at the put-in to study for a medical physics exam 7 hours earlier in 40 mph April WY winds, we could have fished more than 15 minutes without the guilt of the world on our shoulders (boy was that a long, ackward ride home). Yet, we each netted a few nice rainbows on the two-handers.....enough for me to feel 'the tug' and start saving pennies under the couch.
My buddy had the camera and I didn't get the pics until a few days ago after reminiscing about the trip. So, better late then never I guess. This bite should be back on by the end of the month. Hopefully, there will be more to come.
