Set off on a Pike mission at 1 pm today......forgot my damn fly box
After catching four Pike in the 5-8lb range, and with a haggard fly on my line, I was certain I would be out of luck for the rest of the afternoon
Got into the smallies in one particular stretch....couple of nice 19" 4 lb-ish smallies landed
Lost a good Pike, and another Bass on very similar screw-ups. Fish were hooked, then they ran directly toward the canoe....fast. As I stripped quickly to catch up with them the hook came free.....saw both fish...both were quality specimens. Nice to know the bite is still on.
